Here at Dirtbag Pilates, our mission is to change the world. 

I get it. Pilates seems like a weird medium. But hear me out. 

Our classes are specifically geared towards outdoor adventurers, professionals, enthusiasts, and the “adventure-curious.” 

I combine pilates and strength-training with a dose of dirtbag empathy to create challenging, structured workouts designed to completely strengthen your body from the inside out.

These workouts are designed to help you explore your life.

So, how is this changing the world? 

First: Because when we reconnect with our bodies, everything changes. When we become embodied, we change. And when we stay strong enough to explore our life? We fall in love with it.

Second: Because there are really big things happening in life right now. And at DBP, we believe every industry needs to get on board with making the world a better place. It’s about time the fitness industry got the memo. The whole dang reason we explore the world around us is because we love it.

About Me


Hey, friend. I’m Katie, founder of Dirtbag Pilates.

For the past seven years, I’ve lived and worked seasonally around the world, from the research stations of Antarctica to the Alaskan bush. I’ve worked as a field archaeologist, lived in wildfire camps, thru-hiked the Arizona Trail, and called tents, vans, cabins, and communal bunkhouses all home.

Through it all, I always craved movement. Not to shrink myself. But to feel myself. To process long days, to meet discomfort on my own terms, and to develop my own mind-body connection. 

When I became a Pilates instructor, I found myself in a new world. But under all the glitter, I fell in love with teaching others how to move with embodiment, strength, and connection. 

And? I watched as Pilates and strength training transformed countless individuals' strength, posture, and body awareness.

A transformation I could've used a long time ago, when I thought pilates was just about matcha lattes and matching workout sets.

Dirtbag Pilates was born from that realization.

So whether you’re deep in your field season, coming back from injury, preparing for a thru hike, training for an epic climb, traveling hotel to hotel for work, living out of your tent, or just looking for a way to stay functionally strong to be prepared for life, I’ve got your back. Literally.
